What we believe in

We believe that the majority of staff issues and risks can be stopped before they ever happen.

Safeguarding incidents and staff resignations aren’t sudden. They build over time, through missed signals, fragmented systems and concerns that never quite connect. When leaders can see those patterns early, they can act sooner, support staff better, and prevent incidents.

That’s the type of safeguarding Beacon enables.

Our Mission

Our Story

To make safeguarding proactive, not reactive. Beacon connects signals that are typically hidden - helping leaders identify risk early, support staff sooner, and keep schools safer every day.

Beacon Safeguarding was born from experience, not theory.

Before building Beacon, Jay was the Chief Operating Officer in a Multi-Academy Trust employing over 2,000 staff and contractors, facing significant staff, financial, and academic pressures. Like many Trusts, concerns about staff conduct, wellbeing and pressure within individual schools was hard to capture. Information lived across spreadsheets, trackers, logs and HR systems that didn’t connect to one another. By the time issues became visible, they were often already serious incidents that required significant leadership time to resolve.

From issues with staff conduct through to staff resignations, traditional safeguarding systems were able to record what had happened, but were poor at helping prevent what came next.

When a headteacher and DSL went off sick unexpectedly in the same school, safeguarding processes began to fail. Vetting checks had been missed for a new hire and Ofsted found a member of staff that had a criminal conviction unknown to the school. Staff training was out of date with legally required training overdue. The school caretaker was found drunk in a storage cupboard and it turned out it wasn’t the first time. All within the space of 4 weeks.

While this story isn’t typical, in many schools safeguarding processes are held together by just a handful of staff. If those staff are unexpectedly absent or leave, standards can quickly slip.

Beacon Safeguarding exists to change that - giving leaders early visibility, joined-up information, and the chance to act sooner, support staff better, and prevent incidents from ever happening.
